G'day! Chances are by now you're aware that I'm working on an Australian slang embroidery series (I mentioned it in this blog post back in July and they've started popping up on my social media accounts). So far I've finished three - 'She'll be right', 'Onya', and 'Righto'. I love contemporary embroidery that combines the swirly, flowery gentleness of traditional embroidery with less gentle words. I also love language and quite partial to Australiana (both the song and all good things Australian). I decided to combine all three and this series is the result! She'll be right - phrase It'll be alright; that's alright; not to worry. The first one finished was 'She'll be right'. Actually, it was one of the first embroideries I've ever stitched! It's far from perfect, but I still love it. I stitched this one with some backstitch, French knots, satin stitch, and straight stitch. Onya - exclamation Abbreviation of 'good on you'. Onya was made using long and short stitch, satin stitch, straight stitch, and a tiny bit of chain stitch and backstitch. Righto (also rightyo) - various Most commonly used to mean 'alright'. It can also indicate sarcastic disagreement, or signal it's time to stop. For Righto I used spilt stitch, lazy daisy stitch, straight stich, and whipped backstitch. Although it's not part of the Australian Slang series I wanted to pop in a photo of the amethyst cluster I made for mega talented and all around nice guy Wasabi. He requested an amethyst cluster just like the one I made a couple of years ago. He's turned it into some sweet stage bling by adding some wood beads to it. You can see a picture of it over on his Instagram.
I'll leave you with a picture of Ziggy in his role as quality control making sure the back of the hoop was alright before it made its way to Wasabi. Until next time! xx
