Butterick 6437 - cut to size 12 - missing pocket piece - 90s?
Hello early 90s! Or is it late 80s? I get those two a little confused, and I can't find a date for this little gem anywhere. Either way up for grabs is this somehow boxy and chic back-buttoning dress. Imagine the rad fun you could have in one (or more) of these. Do you go with sleeves? Without sleeves? One sleeve on and one sleeve off? That's up to you! It's a fast and easy sew too - it says it right there on the envelope!
This is a cut pattern cut out to a size 12. That means half the work is done for you already!
Talking of which, the envelope is in a pretty sad state having torn on both sides. The front illustration and information on the back are all there and visible. Everything is held together with a rubber band.
The pattern's instructions are complete and intact, albeit a bit creased in odd places.
There are a few rips on pieces 1 (Front), 6 (Buttonhole Guide), and 2 (Back). You can see the rips in the photos. The other pattern pieces have a few small pin holes as you'd expect from a used vintage pattern.
Unfortunately the pocket pattern piece is missing. Thankfully, the pocket is just a square so it would be pretty easy to whip one up yourself, even if you're brand new to pattern making! I mean, you could make it without them, but who wants a garment without pockets?
The pattern is cut to a size 12, but it includes the front neck facing and armhole facing for sizes 14 and 16.
